Intent feels good, but there are several problems. Removing manualy bineries feel odd. Also, please check https://podman-desktop.io/docs/uninstall (maybe these are also incorrect)

Thanks, wondering if it'll be a good idea add SUSE* there as well considering we do have nightly podman tests running on it and I officially maintain the downstream package there.

Just to add here we are (supposedly) a vendor neutral upstream. I don't think saying we only support fedora/debian makes sense in that sense. We only test with them sure, but it is not like I will close a bug because the user is on arch or openSUSE unless that is a packaging issue.
So if someone likes to add a few more install/uninstall commands for several distros then I have nothing against that in principle. That said I am not sure if we as upstream have to documented how to install/uninstall packages for each distro. Distros users should be already aware on how to do it.
We just need to document the commands, like system reset, and other data storage locations that need to be removed manually.

Should the installer be capable of uninstalling? Removing files feels odd.

Thanks @Honny1 for the detailed review. I agree that manually removing installed binaries is not the right approach. I'll revise the guide to document only supported installation methods, remove the manual binary deletion steps, and align the platform-specific uninstall instructions with the existing Podman/Podman Desktop documentation. |

Well, this is not true. Maybe it would be worth updating the installer to ship the uninstaller also. (Not sure how complex this idea is.)

Personally, I think this is wrong. These paths can be used with other tools, so you can easily break other container tools.

Thanks for the follow-up. I’m working through the remaining review comments now. I’ll update the guide to cover Podman system connections, correct the macOS uninstall guidance, and revise the cleanup section to avoid removing shared container-tool data. I’ll push the updated changes once these are addressed. |

Users seeking a clean re-installation, version downgrade/upgrade, or complete software removal previously lacked documented commands and paths for residual files and directories.
