There's a long-standing gap in the User Manual, regarding recording Macros. Not all menu commands can be macro-recorded, but some can, and the manual doesn't say much about it.
The Community Forum FAQ about Macros and this related post have called out the details: the source code isn't 100% clear: there is a list of IDM message constants that are definitely recordable. But if someone had the time to go through, and clean that up into a nice Markdown table or list, and add a subsection (User Manual > Macros > Record a Macro) that shortens the "Macros" section of the FAQ, to just give a brief paragraph, and a quick summary of the types that are recordable, and a list of known-recordable (ie, convert the IDM message constants from the code to a human readable table/list with the default English names for each of those menu entries). It's probably a long list, so using the hiding feature (like used in command-prompt.md for the language identifier and language-code lists) would make it easier to read.
The ideal solution would also confirm whether there's a similar list of recordable Scintilla commands in the Notepad++ source code, and make up the similar table/list for those in the same PR. But despite what I said in the FAQ and the Community discussion, at this point, I am thinking that a list that gives a starting point for what's recordable would be better than refusing to share anything, as people keep asking for it.
