Steps to reproduce

1. Paste an image into a group conversation
2. Open the image from the chat
3. Image does not show - Could not load the file
4. Talk web-page shows the image

I confirm the bug, which also occurs in v.2.2.3 and v2.2.2. I did not check older versions. The webapp and the mobile clients work fine.

Could you check the Developer Tools -> Network tab (available in Talk Desktop by the right mouse click)?
I'd expect the XHR GET response with the message containing the file, and Image GET responses for file preview to point at different locations. Could you confirm that?

I am not sure how to do that. It seems the bug is very easy to reproduce. You can also do it yourself by loading a picure in a chat and trying to open it.

If I would be able to reproduce it, I wouldn't be asking you to do it instead. There's many factors in place beside the client version.

I wasn't really sure which request it is that's why I haven't posted it.
What I can see is:

GET index.php/core/preview?fileId=100655&x=2103&y=1314&a=true&etag=e7028578527eec348bfb86f91558fd88

it ends with code 200 OK, but the preview tab in the network request shows empty image.

Then I tend to say, it's on server side and not on client.
Most likely this is related to nextcloud/server#63229, which is fixed but not released yet

I'm getting an image preview, but when I click on the image I too get "could not load file." The request returns a 404 response, but clicking "open in browser" shows the image normally on my Nextcloud.

The app has also started converting images to a different file type without asking me first. Uploading .png files turns them into .webp (thus giving no preview, because nobody likes .webp).

Also sometimes uploading .jpg/.png loads indefinitely:

Those files work perfectly fine when using Talk from the browser, just the dedicated app is having issues.
