Thank you for the PR. I would prefer to stay compatible to older python versions as well. Maybe add a matrix configuration to test multiple python versions. |

What's the oldest supported version? Then I will add that one to a matrix. |

3.9 is curently widely used and also has good availability. |
Some maintenance to the CI: - Update the checkout and setup-python actions to their latest versions - Allow triggering manually and run once a week (on Monday morning) - Use Python 3.12 instead of 3.10
