How much does this add to the filesize? |

The files are small--only ~1.5kb per image--but I think keeping them in 'handheld' in the 'color-mod' folder makes more sense, since their main purpose is to colorize handhelds (I see there's an atari 2600 B&W preset, too, but that's an exception). I agree that the handheld folder is getting pretty cluttered, but I don't think making a new top-level directory is a great solution for that, and I don't know if adding 100 palette variations does anything to fight it, either. |

As a creator of the request, I say that The main objetive are machines with black-white graphics as handhelds, old computers and other devices (like tamagotchi). For example, MAME works with a lot of them without recolor support. I wrote names in a genérica way as "4-shades" and "8-shades" for this reason. |

Also, I designed folders to help people to add content as new "artistic" palettes. |
Handheld folder is a mix a bit chaotic. Nowadays have 3 shaders than use png to recolor a four shades pattern (Ej. GB) called gb-pallete-dmg, gb-pallete-light and gb-pallete-pocket.
I edit this script for diferents cases and make a family of shaders that recolor scale of grays and many options:
It's easy to add new options with new pull request.
