feat: note-change truth maintenance for links, index freshness and entity anchoring (v1.89.0) - #268
Conversation
F4/C1: pageEntityLinks maps a page's outbound wikilinks through an injected accessor to the ordered list of canonical entity ids the page links to, deduped across spellings, with withheld pages dropped before returning and an empty answer when nothing resolves. entityLinkResolver is the production accessor over the entity index: id, basename, path, slug-prefixed and alias spellings, canonical scope only, never throws.
A page-sourced capture can now name entities its fact text never mentions: routeExtractedFacts takes one optional parameter, linkDerivedEntityIds - the caller-resolved, body-ordered canonical ids of the source page's outbound entity links - and unions them into the persisted entities: line, link-derived ids first so the first body-order link stays the primary anchor when both mechanisms match the same fact, with the text-derived anchors deduped behind them. The resolution and its withholding stay on the caller: the kernel reads no pages and never widens the list, so a session-sourced capture passes nothing and is byte-identical, and a dry run still forecasting without writing covers the parameter too.
The fifth lane task recomputes the entity anchors of page-sourced signals - one whose source: pointer resolves to a vault page - with the shipped rules: text anchors through the capture path's own comparison (buildAnchorables forms matched via matchVariantsOccurIn), link-derived anchors through the page-link resolver at the lane's local reach. Additive only: an anchor already stored is never removed, even when the recompute would not produce it. Dry-run by default with an apply flag; per-source added-anchor counts in the report; a file walk, an index build and pure matching - it never calls a model. The vocabulary moves as one piece: OPERATION gains relink (so a lane task is by construction an operation with a safeguard budget), the lane's yield table answers for it (a synchronous file walk, cancelled through the lane), and the emitter and write-site censuses carry the new progress site and the one shared-atomic rewrite the apply arm makes. retry_tasks accepts the name on both surfaces; the measured description cap moved with the known-task enumeration.
The three occurrence-anchoring twins (anchorEntityForms, the merge guard's guardedAnchors, contamination's mentions) re-expanded the haystack through matchFormVariants on every form of every entity; each now expands it once per call and compares through matchVariantsOccurIn, exactly as fact-extract's entityAnchors already did. Byte-identical verdicts: matchFormOccursIn was exactly this comparison with the expansion inlined. Pins the stated-claims verdict path that motivated the audit: a claim whose text spells the entity with different separators (atlas-prime vs Atlas Prime) still commits through the folded match, and a mid-word occurrence (Canada containing ada) never anchors. Both pins demonstrated failing against literal includes matching before the restore.
EntityLinkResolverOptions.visible was optional, so a caller that forgot it indexed every canonical-scope entity the walk could see - private pages included - and the anchor list naming an unreadable entity page IS the disclosure. The predicate is now a required argument: a forgotten one is a type error at the call site (pinned by a @ts-expect-error test that fails tsc if the requirement is ever relaxed), and a caller already running at the vault's own reach passes () => true so the decision stays visible where it is made. The relink lane already bound its local-reach predicate explicitly and needed no change. Also pinned, in the same module's suite: a throwing accessor degrades to the partial list instead of failing the page - the never-throw rule was docblock-only until now (verified by mutation: removing the swallow fails both pins).
…ts failures Three honesty repairs and one vocabulary completion in the note-change truth-maintenance branch: - claimPostWriteRefresh never threaded input.now into maybeFreshenIndex, so the claim/backoff decision ran on the wall clock even in a deterministic run. The caller's instant now rides through as nowMs; pinned by a test whose injected instant sits behind an expired backoff the wall clock has long passed. - the bare catch in claimPostWriteRefresh made a permanently broken freshen path indistinguishable from a deliberately disabled one. The token stays not_claimed (no third member on the public surface), but the failure message is recorded in a module-level diagnostic (lastRefreshClaimFailureMessage, the session line reader's high-water mark shape) instead of being swallowed whole. - INDEX_REFRESH ships the isIndexRefresh guard its sibling vocabularies all carry; the census registers the now four-piece vocabulary and bumps the population count with the reason. - the minimal-spelling chooser's basenameOf stripped .md case-insensitively while the store's documentBasename strips it case-sensitively, so a destination like Projects/Old.MD could come back as the bare, dangling spelling Old. The strip is now case-exact; pinned in both the pure suite and (by construction) the ladder-agreement rules it mirrors.
The relink anchors task builds the entity index and hands it whole to buildAnchorables, which applies the shared predicate at its own boundary (the capture path's canonical scope); the link-derived half resolves through the page-link resolver, which scopes the same way. That is the deep-synthesis and facts.ts exclusion pattern, so the census inventory gains the module with that reason instead of the read path going unseen. The docblock's measured floors prose moved with the wave's new census rows (22/10/15 -> 29/15/21).
…rites The relink pass rewrites signal pages in place on apply, which made it a write-capable Brain module the vault write-guard census could not answer for. The repair-lane precedent is the guard at the apply boundary: a dry run stays read-only and an applied run refuses before the first byte when the vault identity changed under it. The census sees the module as guarded now, so no exclusion entry is spent on a write that can carry the guard.
…tion The retry_tasks description enumerates the known lane tasks, so the fifth task's registration grew the rendered text past the registry's 160-char property cap while the maintenance parity census had already moved its own measured cap to 168 for the same reason - two ratchets over one text, disagreeing. The global cap moves to 168 with the population, and the parity census now imports the number instead of restating it, so the next lane task grows one cap or fails one audit, never half of each.
The minimal-spelling and refresh-claim sentences grew the brain_note_lifecycle description to 520 chars against the registry's 300-char tool cap, and the registry deliberately has no exemption table for descriptions - the fix is the text. The trimmed description keeps every contract-bearing fact: the action vocabulary with archive's displacement, the dry-run default, the confirm requirement, the inbound-wikilink rewrite to a still-resolving minimal spelling, and the detached-refresh claim named on its report field. The per-flag detail lives on the schema properties, where it already did.
Both surfaces' lane-contract assertions enumerated the four tasks the lane ran before the relink pass joined it; the lane yields five now, so the expectations name all five in lane order.
A relocation's bare-name repair derives its reported 'to' spelling from the third-party note that carries the basename the move contests. The derivation ran over the counting probe's full walked population and the pair joined the reported retarget set unfiltered, so a caller whose reach excluded that carrier could read a spelling naming the excluded note's path while inbound_files correctly stayed empty. Each repair now carries the page it was derived from, and the report drops a pair whose carrier the caller may not read: the response answers as a vault without that page would. The repair itself still runs - exactly like the rewrites inside excluded pages - so the readers who can see the carrier keep a working link. The main retarget pairs need no filter: they are derived solely from the paths the call was given. The reach contract's byte-equality suite now covers the repair arm: with a visible carrier the remote answers are byte-identical with and without an unrelated excluded page, and a sole carrier of the contested basename that the caller cannot read is never named on the remote answer.
A relocation's repair rules joined the destination-collapsing rules in one ordered reduce. A repair's 'from' is the destination's own bare basename - exactly what the main pairs rewrite links TO - so the shared reduce let the repair rule consume spellings the main pass had just written: on a move whose destination basename was the sole carrier of another note, the renamed note's own inbound links came out repointed at that unrelated note while the report showed a clean rewrite. The repairs now run as a separate pass, FIRST, over each file's original link texts, so one rule's output is never another rule's input; both passes obey the same never-rewrite scope. Dropping the colliding rules instead was the alternative and it is rejected here: it would discard the legitimate repair - a contested destination basename carried by a readable note - that the existing pins expect to be reported and applied. Reported spellings list the repairs first, matching the applied order. One consequence of the split: an applied relocation with a repair walks the vault twice instead of once. Also fixes the refresh-claim diagnostic beside it: a claim refused INSIDE the freshen machinery answered with a skip token and never threw, so the catch arm recorded nothing and a broken freshen path was indistinguishable from a disabled one; and a claim that succeeded never cleared the slot, so one transient failure read as broken forever. Every refusal now lands on the diagnostic (the skip token is the reason), a spawned claim clears it, and the test-only reader pins both.
The counting probe matched only the moved note's own spellings, but the repair pass - the one that re-points the bare spellings a contested destination basename breaks - writes files those spellings can never match: a file mentioning only the bare name matched nothing, so it was absent from the plan's inbound_files and from --expect's number, while the apply rewrote it. An operator pinning 'rewrite nothing' got third-party writes the plan never disclosed. The repair pairs' from-spellings now run through a match-only probe of their own and their files join inbound_files and the count guard, so the plan names every file the apply will write. A delete has no destination and therefore no repairs, and probes exactly as before.
…me fallback R7: a directory-prefixed spelling answers only as the entity page's own vault path (with or without .md); it never falls back to the basename, because the vault's own link resolution dangles on a prefixed spelling that names no page. R8: an alias two visible canonical entities claim stays unresolved for both, mirroring the index's duplicate-alias conflict rule over the visible population; refused and non-canonical pages no longer count as claimants. R9: link targets are trimmed at the resolver entry - the shared wikilink extractor captures untrimmed text. R10: the slug rung lowercases and folds separator runs to '-', matching the id-minting slug and the kernel's separator-tolerant spellings.
…truth R11: a signal without a Raw section is out of the rewrite's reach in both arms - the counters move only after the rewrite answers, so a dry run never reports an addition no apply could make, and run-to-run numbers are idempotent. R12: the text match runs unconditionally, so a placeholder Raw section gains its text-derived anchors; only the write waits on the rewrite's support. R13: source pointers are deduped, so two links to one page are read once and counted once. R14: a source ref resolves only to a regular file, trying the .md form, so a directory shadowing the page name no longer swallows the page. R15: the dry run builds its anchorables through a quiet twin of the shared build (same gate, floor and variant expansion, no entity-anchor-skip log), leaving the Brain log byte-identical; the apply arm stamps the audit exactly as the capture path does. Nit: one progress start per walk instead of one per directory; the slice of the vault root is derived with relative() so a trailing separator cannot shift every path; the unreadable-signal fixture no longer writes a page it never reads. The module docblock now says what ships: the kernel's link-derived parameter is an extension seam no extraction caller threads, and this pass is its shipped consumer.
…and claim it from note append Convergence OCR on the review-fix range (findings 1, 2, 3). The claim resolved the search config from the environment alone: the MCP create and update handlers dropped ctx.configPath, the lifecycle input had no config path to drop, and the CLI verb - which resolves the VAULT through --config or the default config file - passed nothing. Under any non-default config (a custom index path, freshen settings in a file) the evidence read opened the wrong index and the child spawned against the wrong config; the tests passed only because they stamped the index through ctx.configPath while the claim resolved without it, both landing on the default path. The config path now threads through readIndexEvidence, claimPostWriteRefresh and claimNoteWriteRefresh, from the MCP server context, from a new refreshConfigPath lifecycle input, and from the CLI verb's own resolved config - the same rule the search verbs read (--config, else the default). brain_append_note wrote body bytes and claimed nothing: an appended body stayed unsearchable until the next freshen interval while the release notes said a content edit claims. It claims through the same seam and carries the same index_refresh marker on its receipt. Regression pins: the freshen-off decision arriving by CONFIG FILE with the environment scrubbed reads off on the create, update and rename receipts (unthreaded, the default interval stands and the write claims a run the operator's config refused); an applied append claims one forced run at the seam; a refused append claims nothing.
… pass Convergence OCR on the review-fix range (findings 4, 5, 7). The freshen child settled the pending marker in its finally block whatever became of the main pass. A child that never scanned - a config that failed to resolve, an INDEX_LOCKED it skipped on, a pass that threw - still ran the settle, whose covered branch clears markers at or before the child's scan start: instants no pass of that child ever scanned past, cleared in the child's own hands. The documented rule is the other one - a caller that cannot run a pass leaves the marker for the next run - and the runPass-null arm meant for exactly that case was unreachable from the only production caller, which passed a no-op closure instead of null. The settle now runs only behind a main-pass-completed flag. The extra pass after a COMPLETED main pass is recorded honestly too: a failure lands as one failed row at its real duration instead of a zero-duration row, and an INDEX_LOCKED it did not get is the benign skip the main path treats it as, not a failure that pushes the backoff up for another writer's ordinary run. CLI-level regression pins: a queued marker survives a child whose config never resolves and a child locked out of the index, and a completed run still clears a marker its scan covered.
Convergence OCR on the review-fix range (finding 6). The settle read the marker and unlinked it in two steps, and markFreshenPending writes from other processes: a writer re-marking between the read and the unlink had its newer marker deleted by the settle clearing the older one - the lost write the marker exists to prevent, in the extra-pass arm and in the covered arm alike. The settle now works through takeFreshenPending: an atomic rename moves whatever stands at the path NOW into a held file, the verdicts judge the take, and restore puts it back through an exclusive link, so a writer that re-marked while the settle held the take keeps the path - the newer instant supersedes the taken one, the marker naming the youngest uncovered write. A covered take drops with no writer visible in the window at all. Also pins the take/restore/drop contract and the torn-marker settle behavior, and stops reading the fixed fixture instant against the real clock in the one extra-pass test whose verdict the clock decides (a clock behind the fixture would flip it).
Convergence OCR on the review-fix range (M1 follow-up). The tail gate compared the WHOLE prefix before the last slash with the registry's entity-type folders, so a form still carrying the registry's deeper path lost its tail: entities/people/ada_lovelace and Brain/entities/people/ada_lovelace have people as their immediate parent segment and minted nothing, a recall gap against the shape the gate is meant to decide (the tail is the slug of an entity PAGE, and a page's id sits in <category>/<id>.md). The gate now reads the slug's own parent segment, which admits the deeper registry spellings and keeps every refusal M1 pins: warner/chappell and sony/atv have non-folder parents and mint no tail, and a non-folder prefix anywhere before the slug stays one variant.
Convergence OCR on the review-fix range (finding 18). The guardedAnchors comment claimed each entity's forms expand alongside their normalization, once per entity, never inside the match predicate - a hoist that was never applied. The haystack hoist is real; the needle expansion sits inside the short-circuiting .some, at most once per form and only for an entity already in scope. The comment now says that.
Convergence OCR on the review-fix range (finding 19). The relink_apply coercion (M4) fixed the string-boolean round-trip one argument over and left force_cost on its literal === true read: force_cost: "true" was silently ignored - the run answering ok over an override that never happened - and "yes" was silently demoted to the default instead of refused by name. It rides the same coerceOptionalBool rule now, and its doc comment states what false, absence and junk each answer. Regression pins: the string spelling runs, "yes" and 1 are refused naming the argument.
…carries Convergence OCR on the review-fix range (finding 21). The entry said index_refresh_reason lands on the CLI receipt and the MCP result; in fact only the create, update and append results spell it that way - the lifecycle receipts (the CLI's JSON and the MCP lifecycle result) carry refresh_reason beside refresh, and the CLI's prose renders the reason in parentheses beside the token with no field name at all. The entry now names each surface's field.
…s added The full-suite run over the convergence fixes caught two census pins that had to move with the behavior they pin: the write-batch suite's clean-append receipt pin now names the index_refresh marker the append claim carries, and the in-vault write-site census names the exclusive link the freshen settle's restore goes through.
…hrows Convergence OCR round two on the convergence fixes (findings 4, 5, 6). The take-based settle renamed the marker into its hold file and judged the take there - and a runPass that threw left it stranded: neither restore nor drop ran, nothing reads a hold file, and the queued write lost its second pass, where the read-then-clear settle it replaced would have left the marker on its path. The settle now puts the take back before propagating the pass failure. A thrown pass covered nothing, so the restored marker is the truthful queue. The restore's exclusive link also stops treating every failure as occupied: only EEXIST means a writer re-marked and superseded the take; a filesystem without hard links (EPERM, ENOTSUP, EXDEV on network and exFAT mounts) fell into the same arm and destroyed a marker nothing replaced. There the take goes back by plain rename - the small race being the price of not losing the marker outright. Pins: a failed extra pass propagates and leaves the marker queued, and the CLI-level settle test now asserts both halves over a real child run - a covered marker cleared, an instant after the scan start kept.
Convergence OCR round two on the convergence fixes (findings 1, 2, 7). The create-note config-file pin passed vacuously: the suite-wide OPEN_SECOND_BRAIN_SEARCH_FRESHEN_INTERVAL_S=0 default wins over the config file, so the receipt read off whether or not the claim resolved the server's configPath. The environment is scrubbed for the test now, the way the update and lifecycle versions already did, and the comment no longer claims no env var is set. The refused-append pin asserted an always-empty seam because the mock was never installed; it now installs the seam, turns freshening on and stamps a stale index, so a claim hoisted above the write would light it up on the way to the refusal. The force_cost test's comment claimed to pin the string-true override its assertions never reached; it now states what each half actually pins - the admission and refusal halves of the coercion contract, the gate override itself being the spend suite's pin.
…ck from Convergence OCR round three on the convergence fixes (findings 2, 3). rename(2) replaces an occupied destination on every platform this runs on, so the restore fallback's catch is a genuine I/O failure, not a re-marked path - the comment now says the take is dropped as the same best-effort loss a marker that cannot be written already names, and the refused-append pin loses the note it seeded and never used.

Every finding from the operator-handed external review was verified against the code and fixed with a regression test on this branch:
The CodeRabbit round is closed as well: 5 of 5 findings fixed in f63a897, 1fd3554, eb4d897, a1e4c38, and the review-fix range above. After the fixes, the convergence review over the fix range ran to convergence: round 1 returned 21 findings — the real ones fixed across ten commits (the refresh claim now resolves the caller's own config and append claims it, the settle runs only after a completed pass, the pending marker handoff is race-free, the slug-tail gate reads the slug's own parent folder, force_cost rides the same boolean rule, plus two documentation corrections), the rest declined with reasons; rounds 2 and 3 hardened the settle (a thrown extra pass no longer strands the marker; filesystems without hard links fall back to a rename) and sharpened two test pins. Full suite at the pushed head: 19,490 pass, 0 fail. |

…n reach The text-derived half of the relink pass matched against anchorables built at the lane's reach, so a remotely readable signal whose principle named a PRIVATE entity stored that entity's id - the same leak the H3 fix closed for the link-derived half, entering through the text arm. Each text-derived match now passes the same per-signal visible predicate the source pointers and the link resolver already answer to: a remotely readable signal anchors nothing from a private name, a public name on the same signal class still anchors, and a local-only signal keeps healing the private name.
…e pass The take-based settle renamed the marker into its hold file BEFORE the extra pass ran, so a child killed mid-pass stranded the marker where nothing reads it again: the write stood unqueued and unmarked - the very loss the marker exists to prevent, reopened by the take. The settle now reads the marker without taking it, runs the extra pass against a marker that never left its path, and takes it only once the pass has finished: dropping it when the completed scan covers the marker instant, restoring it when a writer re-marked with newer work during the pass. A pass that throws covered nothing and the marker was never taken, so the e1ef089 behavior - the queue survives a failed pass - holds without the restore dance; the take's hold window shrinks to the judge-and-clear after the pass, where a kill can no longer lose anything the next run cannot see.
…the suspension The Khmer and Myanmar needles sat at index 0 (codePointBefore null) and the Lao needle was preceded by a combining mark - none of the three is a word character the probe must excuse, so the no-space-script suspension they claim to pin was never exercised: all three passed on the plain boundary rule alone. Each needle now has a BASE consonant of the same script directly before it, so the probe really sees a word character and only the script suspension can admit the hit, plus one negative control: a spaced-script letter glued to the same needle still blocks. Mutation-verified: removing Script=Lao, Script=Khmer or Script=Myanmar from NO_SPACE_SCRIPT_RE alone fails the test.

… touches The shape and codec gates judged the bytes the parse read, but the rewrite touched a second read's bytes: a signal page edited between the parse and the apply read - its Raw turned prose or codec - had the rewrite run on bytes no gate checked, and the line was rebuilt from the parse's stored ids, dropping an id the edit stored. The apply arm now re-runs the same hold-out on its own read and rebuilds the stored half from it; expectBefore still pins those bytes to the rename.
The pending marker was left only when the freshen claim was held, but the writer-lock probe answers before the claim is ever consulted - and the in-flight child holds the index writer lock for the bulk of its pass. A write landing mid-pass took the lock's answer home unmarked, and the child's fresh stamp suppressed freshen-on-read for a whole interval: the exact mid-refresh drop the marker exists to prevent. writer_lock now marks like claimed; a lock held by a non-freshen writer leaves the marker for the next freshen child, whose settle drops it as covered.
The create and update descriptions name the claim; the append description did not, though an applied append claims the same refresh and returns index_refresh_reason.
…and count only what it appends Two gaps in the drift re-check, both in the same window: The byte re-check repeated the shape gate but not the codec gate. A page that gains the _raw_codec marker between the parse and the apply read carries the compressed form, whose collapsed whitespace can leave one line that starts with 'entities: ' and parses to an id - shaped to the shape gate, and the rewrite would have replaced the compressed bytes. The re-check now reads the marker from the frontmatter it is rewriting. And the counters still used the parse-level additions: a concurrent edit that stored some or all of them made the write byte-identical yet counted it as a change. The decision now names the ids it actually appends, and the changed/anchorsAdded counts - dry run included - use those.
…counted skip The byte-level codec check was stricter than the gate it mirrored: a stable page carrying the _raw_codec marker over an absent or placeholder section is not a codec page at parse time (rawCodec is storedCodec - marker AND section), but the re-check refused it as an unsafe shape and counted it on every run; and a page that became codec between the parse and the read was counted as a shape skip where the parse-time codec gate counts neither arm. The re-check now answers codec only for a marker beside a real section, as its own uncounted action, so the same page condition gets the same report numbers whatever the timing.
CODEC_VERSION is 1 and parseSignal throws for any other marker value, so a page with a different marker never parses and can never reach the drift re-check. The fixtures now carry the marker the codec actually writes, covering a state a real run can produce.
The registry guard caps tool descriptions at 300 characters; the claim sentence pushed brain_append_note to 318. The wording now compresses the envelope summary the way the update description already does, keeping the claim sentence itself verbatim beside its siblings.

…reads rawSectionBytes cut the section at the first heading after ## Raw, but the parse-time shape gate reads ## Raw through EOF (the schema's one section). A concurrent edit landing a heading after the entities line in the parse-to-apply window therefore slipped past the byte gate: the remainder up to the heading still matched the extractor's one-line shape, the decision was rewrite, and the pass spliced into a section the next parse reads as prose - the exact overwrite the re-check exists to refuse. Read the span to EOF so any heading after ## Raw answers unsafe-shape, same as the parse gate.
Summary
Open Second Brain 1.89.0 makes derived knowledge follow the note write. When an applied note write lands - a create, a content edit, a rename, a move, an archive, a delete - the vault repairs what the write disturbed in the same step: the inbound links it touches are retargeted to the shortest spelling that still resolves, the bare-name links its carrier-count change would have silently repointed are repaired with a provable target, and one detached claim-guarded search-index refresh is claimed the moment the write lands, its receipt naming the claim and, on a refusal, the reason. The facts the write captures anchor to entities through the spelling the sentence actually used - separator-folded, bounded at the leading edge so inflected forms still match - and the anchors stored signals carry can follow their source page's outbound links through the opt-in
relinkmaintenance pass. An operator no longer waits for the next search or the next maintenance pass to notice what a write changed.flowchart LR W["one applied note write: create, edit, rename, move, archive, delete"] --> L["inbound links retargeted to minimal resolving spellings"] W --> R["detached claim-guarded index refresh claimed at the write, reason on refusal"] W --> A["facts anchored through separator-tolerant, leading-edge-bounded match forms"] S["relink lane pass"] --> A2["stored signals gain link-derived anchors, opt-in apply, reach-matched"] L --> F["derived knowledge follows the write"] R --> F A --> F A2 --> FWhat changed
[[Projects/Old]]comes out[[New]]whenNewis unambiguous and keeps its directory prefix only when it is not. The chooser mirrors the index's resolution rung for rung, so a spelling the rewrite calls minimal is a spelling search resolves to the same document. A rename that brings a second carrier onto an already-resolving bare spelling used to silently repoint every[[spelling]]aimed at a note that never moved; those third-party links are now repaired in the same pass, retargeted to the minimal unambiguous spelling of their pre-rename target, and everything unprovable stays untouched - a spelling several notes carried before the move was already ambiguous, a spelling with no carrier was already dangling.claimedsays a run is in flight, never that it has landed, and every refusal - a zero freshen interval, another run holding the claim, no index to refresh, a failed spawn - answersnot_claimedwith the machinery's own reason surfaced beside the token:index_refresh_reasonon the create, update and append results,refresh_reasonon the lifecycle receipts (the CLI's JSON and the MCP result; the CLI's prose renders it in parentheses beside the token). The results also expose the rewritten spellings the pass applied.ada-lovelaceorpeople/ada_lovelace- the slug tail minted only from the registry's entity-type folders, soWarner/Chappellnever anchors through a bare "Chappell" - and CJK and other no-space-script mentions anchor without needing a word separator at all. The word boundary binds the LEADING side only: a trailing character is an inflection until proven otherwise, so the Russian accusative "Ивана", the German genitive "Annas" and a Korean particle run anchor again, while the leading-edge rule keeps the mid-word precision fix - "Canada" never anchors "Ada". The merge guard and the contamination check adopt the shared rule, so the guard that vetoes a merge cannot disagree with the anchoring that fed it.relinklane task that applies the re-anchoring stored signals need. A fact extracted from a source page anchored only to the entity names its own sentence used. The anchoring kernel now accepts caller-resolved link-derived entity ids, and the resolver answers entity ids, vault paths, slug-prefixed spellings and unclaimed frontmatter aliases, answering empty rather than guessing when nothing resolves. Write-time attachment has no shipped caller yet - there is no shipped page-sourced extraction path that threads the parameter - so the way extracted signals actually gain link-derived anchors is the maintenance lane: a fifth lane task, relink, recomputes the anchors of the extracted signals already stored with the shipped matchers and the same resolver, binding each signal's resolution at the reach the signal itself is readable at, and unions them in additively - an anchor already stored is never removed. The default arm is a dry run that writes nothing; the stored lines change only when the run asks for it with--relink-apply, orrelink_applyover MCP, each addition written only where the signal's own reach allows it. Every lane pass reports per source page what the task would add.Release: version 1.88.0 -> 1.89.0 across all manifests, with the CHANGELOG entry under
