I've tried to implement gamma correct blending (as described [here](https://blog.johnnovak.net/2016/09/21/what-every-coder-should-know-about-gamma/#colour-blending)) but it causes horrible artifacts in areas with dark colors:  I've reverted these changes for now, since all other apps also seem to handle it the "wrong" way by default.
