Support for Opening IMAS H5s with OMAS?

Hello!

We have tried opening .h5 files that were generated for IMAS, but we have had trouble opening them with omas.load_omas_h5. Are we doing something wrong?

AFAIK (NEITHER OMAS or IMAS developer speaking), the OMAS HDF5/netCDF model was developed in a time when the only way how to save OMAS was MDS+. The IMAS HDF5 format was developed in parallel with the OMAS one. Tha is why it does not work.

Recently, #328 images-py library was open-sourced; maybe some integration with that library could help.

That's correct... actually, to be nit picky both the OMAS .h5 and .nc formats long predate the IMAS one 😉

One way to support the native (tensorized) IMAS h5 file would be via omasjl (see #328 (comment))
