Release Notes — multiACE v0.80b "First Light"
First public beta release of multiACE — Multi-ACE Pro support for Snapmaker U1
What is multiACE?
multiACE enables multiple Anycubic ACE Pro filament changers on a single Snapmaker U1 printer. Switch between ACE units to use different filament sets — for example, PLA on ACE 0 and PETG on ACE 1 — without physically swapping spools.
Highlights
Connect up to 4 ACE Pro units (tested with 3)
Switch between ACE units via Fluidd macros
Auto-load all filled slots from selected ACE
Unload all toolheads with automatic ACE switching for retract
RFID detection and manual filament type support
Per-ACE dryer settings
Normal Mode fallback for stock operation (TPU/TPE)
Compatible with Snapmaker 1.2 and PAXX 12-14 firmware (tested, older Paxx releases should be compatible too)
One-command install/uninstall scripts with automatic backup
Tested with 400+ toolchanges across 3 ACEs in a single 5-hour print
Installation
Download the release, copy to your printer (/tmp), and run:
bash /tmp/multiace/install_multiace.sh
See README for prerequisites (SSH access, root mode) and detailed instructions.
Known Limitations
Beta software — community testing welcome
Toolchange between ACEs adds ~5 seconds (serial reconnect)
Unload All clears manually set filament display info
Both Snapmaker U1 and ACE Pro have inherent hardware quirks (loading issues, RFID detection) that are not multiACE bugs
What's Next
Bug fixes based on community feedback
Custom Fluidd UI panel for ACE management
Full documentation in README.md (English) and README_DE.md (Deutsch).
Thank you to SnapACE, DuckACE, ACE Research, the 3D Print Forum community, and everyone who will help test and improve multiACE!
