About

The PLAN4LDN tool is Based on LUP4LDN the tool that has won in 2021 the international technology innovation competition announced by GEO-LDN and that was jointly developed by ICARDA, WOCAT, SCiO, Claudio Zucca, and the ELD Initiative (hosted by GIZ) and that was released in 2023, and maintained by SCiO P.C., Athens, Greece.

PLAN4LDN has since been redeveloped by the University of Sassari, ICARDA, and WOCAT, with IT support by CRS4 using partially different IT technologies compared to LUP4LDN 1.1 version released by SCiO, has a significantly redesigned interface, implements to a much larger extent the functionalities that form part of the original conceptual design of the tool, including capacity to perform directly GIS processing on the input data, and generates different outputs that are aligned with the new UNCCD guidelines on the SDG15.3.1 indicator.

The tool is a Docker Compose Multi-container application. Compose simplifies the control of the entire application stack, making it easy to manage services, networks, and volumes in a single YAML configuration file. Docker Compose is a cloud-native architectures, containerization and open-source, cloud-agnostic tools to decouple applications from specific infrastructure.
Compose works in all environments - production, staging, development, testing, as well as CI workflows. It also has commands for managing the whole lifecycle of the application.
