On 1bit black & white displays, the running timer window draws its status bar clock on top of the grey dithered time-remaining indicator. The dither pattern causes the text to become garbled and unreadable as the timer depletes. Displaying light type over a dither pattern is generally not recommended for this reason.
A simple fix could be to either draw a solid color background behind the text portion of the StatusBar, or to use a bolder font for the clock once the timer has depleted
