"Don't buy/use any new Intel/AMD hardware, it contains a backdoor." is there a clear source to this? Evidence?

Not AMT, which is mostly in servers, but its base, Intel Management Engine - a separate processor with own closed-source digitally signed (there are some tools which strip its firmware to minimum, see MECleaner) minix-based firmware and full access to the system. Used in platform initialization, hw monitoring and who knows what else.

There is a hidden functionality (discovered by a security firm Positive Technologies) to put this thing into endless loop after initialization presumably made to satisfy requests of US government orgs, but it doesn't fully disable it.
