Aistos: Zero-Trust Session Sandbox

Firefox Add-ons

CI Pipeline License: AGPLv3 / Proprietary RAM Usage: < 10MB Manifest V3

A military-grade, lightweight (<10MB) session sandbox for Firefox power users.

Aistos is a military-grade, lightweight (<10MB) session sandbox for Firefox power users. It replaces legacy ad blockers and cookie auto-deleters by orchestrating Firefox's native contextualIdentities and declarativeNetRequest APIs.

⚡ Core Architecture

  • Ephemeral Burner Workspaces: Launch dynamic sandboxes that instantly vaporize their container, cookies, and indexedDB the moment you close them.
  • Native C++ Firewall: Utilizes declarativeNetRequest to block ads and trackers natively in the browser engine without waking up a JavaScript background thread.
  • Panic Button Discard: Instantly flush background workspace tabs from memory to freeze tracker execution.
  • Memory Ceiling: Aistos operates on event-driven background scripts. It does not maintain global state arrays, keeping memory consumption permanently under 10MB.
  • Dynamic Tor Armor & CNAME Uncloaking: Toggles Tor-uplifted C++ preferences exclusively in burners and resolves canonical domain names to drop masked trackers.

🔄 What Aistos Replaces

Aistos is engineered to consolidate a bloated, multi-extension privacy stack into a single, cohesive, zero-framework extension. It directly replaces:

  • Temporary Containers: Replaced by Aistos's atomic, event-driven ephemeral Burner Workspaces and automatic context routing.
  • Cookie AutoDelete (CAD): Replaced by Aistos's Domain Vaults, auto-detection of persistent logins, and native CAD backup import tooling.
  • uBlock Origin / Privacy Badger (Tracker Blocking): Replaced by native C++ declarativeNetRequest (DNR) rule execution, CNAME uncloaking, and recursive URL tracker parameter sanitization.
  • CanvasBlocker / Fingerprint Shields: Replaced by context-aware Tor-derived stealth armor (resistFingerprinting) active exclusively inside Burner workspaces, avoiding breakage on regular sites.

📦 Installation

For everyday browsing, install Aistos directly from the official Mozilla Add-ons repository to receive verified builds and automated background updates:

Note for Developers & Auditors: If you want to audit the source code, contribute, or run custom test builds locally, refer to the Development & Testing section below.

Development & Testing

Aistos enforces strict quality and memory budgets via automated CI scripts. To run security and bloat audits locally on your machine:

  1. Install development dependencies:

    npm install
  2. Run the memory bloat, permission, and leak audits:

    npm run audit:all
  3. Lint the codebase:

    npm run lint
  4. Build a clean production .xpi package:

    npm run build

📜 Licensing & Enterprise Use

Aistos operates under a Dual License model:

  1. Personal & Non-Commercial Use (AGPLv3): Aistos is fully open-source and free for individual power users under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0.
  2. Enterprise & Corporate Deployment: Corporate IT environments, commercial fleets, and automated deployment architectures are strictly prohibited from using the AGPLv3 version. To deploy Aistos within a company, you must purchase a Proprietary Enterprise License. Contact the RandomSasquatch GitHub profile for enterprise licensing inquiries.

By using this software in a corporate environment without an Enterprise License, your organization may be legally compelled to open-source its internal infrastructure under the terms of the AGPLv3.
