Summary

Follow-up to the v0.12.1 release, from a first run on Linux Mint.

  • Version label: the title bar showed a hardcoded v0.10.0. Title bar and About panel now read the version from package.json.

  • Unreadable dropdowns on Linux: select popups were drawn with the light system theme (white) under the app's light text. The app now declares a dark colour scheme in CSS and sets the window theme to dark.

  • Microphone formats: since the PC-audio feature, any input device not delivering f32 samples was rejected. Integer formats (common on ALSA) are now converted to f32.

  • Ctrl+Super on Linux: the default hotkey is modifier-only, which the global-shortcut plugin cannot register. A key listener on the X server now emits the same events as the Windows keyboard hook. It does not see native Wayland windows; Ctrl+Shift+Space remains available.

  • Two mid-size models: quantized large-v3-turbo at 574 MB and 874 MB, between small (466 MB) and medium (1.5 GB). Both were downloaded and transcribe a test clip correctly with the bundled whisper binary on Windows.

Not verified

  • The Ctrl+Super listener compiles in CI but has not been exercised on a Linux desktop yet. The Super key is not suppressed, so a desktop that opens its menu on Super may still do so.

  • The dropdown fix has not been seen on Linux yet; the Linux artifact of the release workflow run on this branch is there to check it.

  • The microphone change removes a real restriction, but it is not confirmed to be the cause of the reported hiccup, which went away on its own.

Test plan

  • npm run build and cargo check locally (Windows)
  • Linux package from this branch: dropdowns readable, title bar shows the right version, microphone records, Ctrl+Super starts dictation

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

- title bar showed a hardcoded v0.10.0; title bar and About panel now
  take the version from package.json
- declare the dark colour scheme (CSS and window theme) so native
controls such as select popups are not drawn with a light system theme
- accept input devices that deliver integer samples (common on ALSA)
by converting to f32 instead of rejecting them

The default hotkey is a modifier-only combo, which the global-shortcut
plugin cannot register. Watch the keyboard through the X server and
emit the same pressed/released events the Windows keyboard hook does.

Quantized large-v3-turbo in two sizes (574 MB and 874 MB) from the same
model repository, so there is a step up from small that does not
require a 1.5 GB download.
