Summary

Upgrade all outdated dependencies to latest (TanStack AI 0.54 / ai-gemini 0.29 / ai-react 0.24, React 19.3, Vite 8.3, Nitro 3.0-beta, Convex 1.45, Zod 4.6, oxc, etc.). Two source changes in src/routes/api.chat.ts were required for the chat to keep working:

• searchTool is now googleSearchTool() from @tanstack/ai-gemini/tools. After the @tanstack/ai 0.43 → 0.54 bump, a plain { name, description, metadata } tool object is classified as a client tool, so the run ended with outcome=interrupt and no assistant text. The provider-branded tool restores grounding.
• Chat model changed gemini-2.5-flash → gemini-3.5-flash-lite. Verified against the raw @google/genai stream that 2.5-flash + Google Search grounding intermittently generates the answer twice (a partial draft, then a full reworded answer in the final grounded chunk — Gemini's own groundingSupports cover both). This bug already exists on production, so it is unrelated to the upgrades; 3.5-flash-lite streamed 6/6 clean grounded answers in local testing. 2.5-flash is also deprecated for new API users.

Runtime smoke test on the Vercel preview (home standings/match snapshot, podcast episode playback, chat) — all pass after 6115873; no console/hydration errors.

Chat: the first preview build returned no answer (client-tool interrupt) — fixed by googleSearchTool(). Chat replies are sometimes duplicated ("…Anfield.…Anfield.") — this is not a regression: sampling /api/chat on production (hakapit.online, current main) reproduces it 4/8 times, and bisect deploys pinning @google/genai 2.15 / reverting the @tanstack/ai* packages made no difference. It's Gemini 2.5-flash grounding emitting a final full-text part in the stream; can be handled in a follow-up (server-side dedupe or moving to gemini-3.6-flash, which didn't show it in local runs).
