Currently, there is a very limited set of tests, both for the engine crate and the game backend crate. There should be way more tests, especially for the game crate since issues surfacing from the game crate can be difficult to find while working on the engine.
No due dateThere are still a couple of things I would like to do for the engine; optimisations that, while not necessary could speed up the search (especially the heuristic evaluation). These include: 1. Transposition table 2. Pawn structure lookup table There are also some things that I would like for the evaluation itself. Things like avoiding repetition, game-phase specific evaluation, checkmate patterns, capture chains, and common tactics.
No due dateThe current way of playing against the engine is functional but cumbersome. It only prints the board from one perspective, which is difficult when playing as black. This milestone would see the implementation of a full-scale frontend (web- or application-based) that allows users to play against the engine with minimal effort and in an appealing environment.
