How to use the new license feature?

I'm somewhat confused about this new license management feature implemented in #18546. I updated Vite to latest version, and seemingly all it did was that it removed all license comments from the bundle, but nothing else.

This doesn't seem to be correct from licensing standpoint, am I right? Is there something else I need to setup, or is this not the inteded behaviour? I tried to look up some docs for this, but searching "license" on vite.dev returns nothing.

I found that I have have to set license: true in vite.config.ts through types, but this doesn't seem like the right default tbh. Isn't this a bit of risky to set up users to not include license comments by default?

This update erased all firebase license comments from the bundle, which drove me crazy (50 identical comments, because they include license in every source file), but the current equivalent in the generated file is just a few lines, and I'm a bit worried whether that's enough? There's no mention of Google copyright, but the original comments in the bundle had that.
