I am getting 7 FPS with empty project (SOLVED)

Hi, I am using Stride but it is lagging a lot on my laptop. I saw a similar problem here (#2168) but limiting the CPUs it can use did not help in my case. Is there anyone else experiencing the same thing or have an idea what might be causing the issue?

I use Stride 4.3.0.2507 but tried 4.2.1 too and it was still lagging a lot. Even the empty project is lagging (I get 7 FPS with it)
Device: i7 11th Gen, 32GB RAM, 4GB RTX3050, 64-bit operating system. I generally try to keep the software up to date.

Any tip is appreciated

youre pc is better than mine and stride is smooth for me. could you give more info like a video of it lagging. or maybe you have other software running in the background

I often have Brave browser in the background but neither Brave nor another app is using too much GPU/CPU looking at the task manager

Interesting, something else is lagging your computer then. How is your CPU and Memory doing when you check Task Manager?

Stride and EmptyProject.windows app takes around 900-1100 MB in memory. And they take around 6-10% of CPU

Are you in Virtual Machine? If yes, do you use Graphics Acceleration in your VM?

How much videoadapters in your pc. often laptops have two GPU for energy saving function.
You can get this information from internet by your pc model name/user manual/task manager(you can see in GPU column - graphic adapter1 if have more than one GPU).
I suspect that your Stride is running on GPU0.

You're right! It is indeed using the GPU0 (integrated? one) around %40. How do I tell Stride to use the GPU1(RTX one)?

I don't know anything about your pc/adapters/system and can't help. This is a question for your system, how to forcefully switch the program to a high-performance GPU, not for Stride. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XlGCj4uZ3U . In future, when project will have more models and textures, your system must select high-performance GPU automatically.

Thank you, this was indeed the problem and was able to solve the problem.
For those with the same problem:

• Open Graphics Settings
• Find custom settings for applications
• Click "Add desktop app"
• Select Stride.exe and instead of Let Windows Decide, select High Performance (To find the stride.exe, open the editor version you have like 4.3, open task manager and right click to Stride App and open file location). You need to repeat this for all versions of Stride you are using
• Previous steps will make editor run smoothly. To make the game run smoothly, run your game. This time find it on task manager (YourProjectName).Windows (green stride logo), find its file location and add it on graphics settings and again set high performance.
• You need to repeat this step for every project you have.

Is your project OpenGL or DX? Everyone seems to try to guess here in an attempt to help you, but not posting your "empty project" where settings are very very important, and not providing enough info isn't very helpful to help you :)

It is Direct3D 10.0 / OpenGL ES 3.0 windows only project. I did not share the project as did not think sharing an empty project would mean much but will share it now :) Thank you for the help
