Become a sponsor to DeepSkyStacker
Hi there, I'm David Partridge, the current lead developer for DeepSkyStacker. I live in Pillerton Priors (a small village in Warwickshire) in the UK.
As you may know we've been working for some time to make DeepSkyStacker portable by changing the code so that instead of MFC (which is Windows only) it uses the Qt framework which is designed for portability. We finally completed that conversion at around the end of November 2024.
As at 14th June 2025 we reached the point of releasing the first beta for DeepSkyStacker 6.1.0 which supports Linux, macOS and Windows.
How will your contributions help?
-
It will help to pay for hardware that was needed for development of these new platforms (a Mac Mini M4) which cost about USD2300, and a used Mac Mini i7 (2018 version) that cost an additional USD365.
-
It will help pay for an Apple Developer license which is necessary to distribute code for Macs.
Total sponsorship to date (24 April 2026) is a bit over USD1666 so any contribution you make will be most gratefully received.
We are now about to release DeepSkyStacker 6.2.0 with major changes to the Processing pane.
If the github sponsors mechanism doesn't work for you, I also accept contributions via PayPal:
