Progress circle for restore from backup freezes for many minutes prior to succesful completion

Bug description

The twirling or whirling little circle thingy just freezes for minutes during restore. Then suddenly restoration completes.

Steps to reproduce

• Simply restore from a backup of nontrivial size (like a year, in my case)
• Watch the twirling circle freeze

Actual result: Describe here what happens after you run the steps above (i.e. the buggy behaviour)

• Wait for the process to successfully finish anyway, maybe minutes or hours later

Expected result: Describe here what should happen after you run the steps above (i.e. what would be the correct behaviour)

• Keep whirling, or ideally build a more accurate progress estimation model and give the estimated time remaining.
