Bug description

After updating signal on iphone and ipad and macOS almost two weeks ago and every update since, the app removes the actual file extension and add its own extension depending on file type when you try to save. e.g. .srt is saved as .txt and .ipa is saved as .bin.

I have tried .docx and .pdf but they are downloaded and saved as expected so it seems like its only affecting some file types in my case .srt and .ipa

Steps to reproduce

  • attach/send a .srt or .ipa file
  • download and save said file on iphone or ipad
  • check saved file in files app

Actual result:

  • file is saved as .txt even if you manually add correct extension at time of saving it becomes file.srt.txt or file.ipa.bin

Expected result:

  • .srt should be saved as .srt and same for .ipa
