Not sure if this is just my computer or browser -- and it doesn't look as bad in the screenshot than when I'm looking at my browser -- but having but the background and the difference between the brightness, opaqueness, and color of the apps that are on vs off is could be it makes it very difficult to actually tell which ones are actually on and off. It would help to use a different color, greater contrast and/or or some sort of graphical indicator.
