error while downloading dictionaries

during my first few attempts a semi transparent popup would say the dictionary couldn`t be downloaded. then i downloaded the latest release a second time and thats what happens now, it shortly gives me an error message. i hit "confirm" and it opens and runs normally except for not having the dictionaries popup. i also cant open the manage dictionaries section

Send the log file located in ..\JL\Logs.

Do you use a VPN? Some VPNs may act poorly, especially if you try use split tunneling. See #33.

Manage dictionaries window cannot be opened while a dictionary is being downloaded or being loaded.

no, im not using a vpn

log file 1st.txt
my resources folder. dictionary databases only has Kanjidic.sqlite

i tried downloading it a third time. it failed again but after that it didnt ask me to download the dictionaries everytime i started the program so i went to manage dictionaries and it downloaded from there. its running normally, i successfully added other dictionaries. the log for this attempt:

i then tried again with the failing one. i declined download on startup, went to manage dictionaries but all of them gave me the same error message. however, im able to add other dictionaries, including my own files for those same dictionaries only by changing their name field

Do you have the following directory: C:\Users\user\Desktop\JL-4.3.0-win-x64\Resources\? According to the logs, when JL tries to create a temp file there, it can't find that path so it throws an exception, which normally shouldn't be possible at all. If that directory existed when you got that log, then I guess it's some kind of permission issue.

you're right, i forgot to put it back on desktop. i cant remember if it was the same case for my first attempt though. thanks for responding.

In the log files you provided there was basically two different errors. The directory missing thing seems to happen due to manual tinkering on your part, so there's nothing reasonable to do about it.

The other error should be solved by cab0891.
