Broken release files

In the latest release (v1.6) the source files eg. https://github.com/rafael2k/darkice/archive/refs/tags/v1.6.tar.gz are broken.

Meaning that the darkice directory has following folders: branches, tags, trunk. This is different to the structure of the git repo.

The latest release is not broken, it is missing. It is the same as in #194.

That link is automatically generated by Github, pointing to the repository files for that git tag.

There should a third link that links to the actual release (after running autogen.sh)

It’s missing too, and I assumed this was intended for that release

Doesn't fail. You have to go to the system's source code directory:
cd /usr/src
Clone the official DarkIce repository:
sudo git clone https://github.com/rafael2k/darkice.git
The repository is located at:
cd /usr/src/darkice/darkice
Switch to stable version 1.6:
sudo git checkout v1.6
Go to the folder where the autogen.sh file is located:
cd /usr/src/darkice/darkice/trunk
Generate the ./configure script (this may take a few seconds):
sudo ./autogen.sh
sudo ./configure \ --with-alsa \ --with-pulseaudio \ --with-lame \ --with-vorbis
Compile the code (this may take 2-5 minutes):
sudo make
Install DarkIce on the system
sudo make install
View installed version
darkice --version
Verify the path of the installed binary:
which darkice
It should respond with: /usr/local/bin/darkice
