While going through the source code I had a hard time understanding what each component does brief documentation for each component would help contributors navigate the codebase faster.

Hey VivianSobers, totally fair point, the codebase grew pretty fast and we never really stopped to document what everything actually does.

Just pushed a COMPONENTS.md that goes through every backend module and frontend component with a proper description of what it does. Also updated the README to point to it. Hopefully that makes it a lot easier to find your footing when jumping in.
