Hi @rvosa, I'm one of the reviewers for JOSS. I've just started my review. For anything I find regarding the software, I'll create separate issues. Regarding the manuscript, I don't have any major concerns. 👍
The only thing I noticed is that three of your co-authors are also mentioned in the acknowledgments:

The author acknowledges the Naturalis Biodiversity Center for institutional support and infrastructure, and Dick Groenenberg, Dan Parsons and Ben Price for extensive testing, feedback, and improvement suggestions over the course of this project.

It is a bit uncommon to acknowledge the contribution of your co-authors there. You also use the author (singular).

Hi @iimog you're right, that was an old section. Dick, Dan and Ben have since ascended to coauthors so I've updated this acknowledgements accordingly.
