Adblock does not work.

Hello,

I would like some help.

I configured Node.js, but when I try to activate Adblock, I get the following warning:

“Adblock is not configured properly or failed to start...”

The rest of the message tells me to go to the Node.js settings to check if everything is configured correctly there.

Is there anything I can do?

Just in case it helps, this started happening here when I replaced v4.0.4 from Debian's repo with 4.8.6 which is a flatpak. It may well be a containerisation issue.

This issue is likely not exclusive to the Flatpak package, but nevertheless I just pushed an update to address it, which should be available in a few hours on Flathub.

My suspicion is that the adblocker tool included with RSS Guard (@ghostery/adblocker v2.5.1) has gotten a bit too old (7 months, to be exact) to parse current adblocking filter syntax.

One fix is to simply update the adblocker to its current version (v2.12.5), but doing that manually won't work because RSS Guard forces the installation of the older broken version whenever we start the adblock server, so another workaround must be found for other packaging formats and operating systems.
