The issue with asking the extractor to look at the synopsis is that it produces a lot of false positives due to inaccurate / stale synopsis lines.

Any chance you have an example handy? Not quite sure I understand what you mean? Is it that some MAN pages are out of date?

Not exactly out of date, just that the synopsis isn't generated from the manpage body in an automated way. It's hand written. So sometimes it'll have options that don't match the actual text in the manpage. And generally speaking the llm is more likely to be confused by the synopsis and hallucinate options.

I don't have an example ready, but it definitely came up when I was benchmarking the prompt (you might be able to see earlier versions of it that didn't forbid it).
