Configured value in the Value Mapping gets overwritten

Hi @engswee,

We deployed value mapping from Dev to QA, and the value mapping is configured at QA, eg: email address maintained in the value mapping is different between Dev and QA.

When we deploy the same value mapping to QA again with additional bi-directional mapping, the configured value in the value mapping gets overwritten to Dev value.

The behavior is different if we use SAP Cloud TMS which does not overwrite the configured value in value mapping and only transport the additional bi-directional mapping and value mapping which is not in configured mode.

Can you advice if flashpipe support value mapping which is configured?

Yes, value mappings work slightly different from the rest. The API for value mapping does not contain an update (PUT) method. Therefore what I've implemented is a Delete followed by a Create. This obviously causes an issue for your use case 😢

I'm not sure how it works with SAP Cloud TMS - maybe it uses a different approach/API that is not publicly released.

Honestly, at the moment I'm not sure what options there are to handle such updates. One alternative is to introduce a flag/parameter to skip processing if the artefact already exists

I think delete and create is right combination for value mapping with any item if configured, you will need to perform same action per sap note: https://me.sap.com/notes/0003170327

Thanks for your response.

For SAP Cloud TMS, it will not overwrite the value mapping which at State = "Configured", it will only insert or update the value mapping which State = empty.

Example value mapping with State = Configured / Empty(Not Configured)

This is alternative option If there is a flag/parameter skip processing when the artefact already exists, but also mean that we are unable to add any new set of bi-directional mapping to the existing value mapping.
