:ALERename on Python source file - Receiving vim error E488 Trailing Characters - How do I use :ALERename correctly?

Hi,

I am trying to use :ALERename on a python class in vim on macOS 10.15.7 (19H2). I place the cursor on the class name and type :ALERename MyNewClassName and receive error E488: Trailing characters in vim.

How do I get :ALERename working in vim on a python file?

ALERename only works if you have an LSP linter enabled. For python you can use pyright.

After you have pyright configured and enabled in your configuration you can call :ALERename with no arguments:

:ALERename

This will then prompt you to input the new name.
