An option to apply the clustering to the selected features might help the user in the case that the shapefile has islands.

If this gets implemented there is one thing to consider.
The algorithm returns a list where each position i holds the region's id for feature i.
If some, not all, features were selected, then part where the region ids are assigned needs to be able to tell which features were out.
