Quickadd for defining properties of a file

Hello,

Is it possible to use quickadd to :

1. Create a file based on a template
2. Ask for the name of the file
3. Ask for property X
4. Ask for property Y
5. Write the two defined properties in the created file ?

Additional question : if property X is a list, is it possible to have a field in order to select an existing value ?

Coming back to this one a year late - sorry about that.

Yes to all five, no scripting needed. Set up a Template choice pointing at your template:

1. File name: leave File Name Format off and QuickAdd prompts for the name when the choice runs (or set the format to something like {{VALUE:File name}}).
2. Properties: put format tokens in the template file's frontmatter:

---
X: {{VALUE:X}}
Y: {{VALUE:Y}}
---

Each {{VALUE:...}} prompts once and the answer lands in the property of the created file.

For your additional question - selecting an existing value - use {{FIELD:X}} instead of {{VALUE:X}}: it suggests every value X already has across your vault, and you can still type a new one. And if X is a list property, {{FIELD:X|multi}} gives you a multi-select over the existing values and writes a proper YAML list.

You can also pin the property type with |type:number, |type:checkbox, and friends if you need typed properties.
