[Redmine] initialization script isn't starting

I downloaded the new Redmine OVA image (bitnami-redmine-6.1.1-r0-debian-12-amd64 ) from the VMware Marketplace. When the VM starts, after a few seconds it gets stuck on tty1 with a blinking cursor. I tried vtty2 and logged in with the bitnami user, and it works and I have access to the directory, but nothing is configured, as if the initialization script isn't starting. The previous 6.0 VM started, and I got the message that Redmine was installed on vtt1. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks for using Bitnami. Can you give us more information about your issue? Where are you running the VM? Can you share the resources you are providing to the VM as well? Did you also provide any customization via user data?

In addition to the questions above, can you check the logs files at /var/log/cloud-init-output.log and /opt/bitnami/var/log? Checking the rest of system logs under /var/log may be of help as well

I’ve tried running it on my ESXi server as well as on VMware Player 17, VirtualBox 7.2, and Proxmox, but I keep encountering the same issue: I get a black screen with a blinking cursor, and no installation script ever starts. All tests were done with 8 GB of RAM and 4 CPU cores.
Did you also provide any customization via user data? No.
The previous image, bitnami-redmine-6.1.0-r6-debian-12-amd64.ova, works fine (the startup script appears properly on tty1), but the newer images don’t.
I also don’t have the files /var/log/cloud-init-output.log or /opt/bitnami/var/log.
Normally, after startup, I can see the initialization script running — but now, I only get this blank screen.

To work around the problem, I used the working OVA bitnami-redmine-6.1.0-r6-debian-12-amd64.ova and updated Redmine with the source code. But I'm wondering what's wrong with the following OVAs:
bitnami-redmine-6.1.0-r7-debian-12-amd64.ova
et
bitnami-redmine-6.1.1-r0-debian-12-amd64.ova.

Okay, I figured out how to start the init process. In the questions before the VM starts, I added a static DNS server and it works. By default, it uses Broadcom's local DNS servers. The resolv.conf file specifies this.

Thanks for your message. I'm glad you managed to fix your issue! We have also found the default DNS configuration is causing these initialization issues in some scenarios. We are working on a new revision of the OVAs including a fix for this. We will keep you posted and send a new message when we have released it so you can give it a try.
