Could not allocate memory

all of the units I updated with the latest version a few months ago all stopped working last night ~ 8 hrs ago

and all of the units still on old firmware from 2 years ago still working

even after powering off / rebooting they go straight into

could some feature in latest firmware cause memory to be warn out ?

When I updated the devices, 2 out of 6 died after ESPHome update 2025.12.3. This was December 22nd. I am not at home and can't see but since you have mentioned, I will look at this.

In my case devices don't connect to wifi anymore, randomly died. 2 out of 6.

I don't think it is Athom issue, if there is any, it is with ESPHome update.

hmm i just find it interesting that the only devices still alive are the ones in a shipping container i never updated because they have flaky wifi connection and did not want to risk it

and all of the others died exact same time last night , at first i thought it must have been the wifi router not leasing out their ip addresses but then trying to give them power cycles and seeing them all spamming out memory errors

I tried getting them back to old firmware but the configs are no longer valid because of changes to "Component cse7766 "
and refusing to load up my github fork that I used to run them from

its a good wack of units ...
