Symptoms

Within the first few seconds of launching, the game freezes for a good 35-60 seconds. Be playable again for a few seconds, then freeze for that solid chunk of time again. Repeatedly.
During the time the game is frozen, CPU usage for the task spikes tremendously (How odd!)
The game still works fine on Windows..

Reproduction

Running the game with proton should suffice. I have other friends with computer specs entirely, different distros, different GPUs, display server, desktop environments/window manager having the same issue.
Chivalry has not received any updates, nor has proton, yet this issue seemingly appeared from nowhere.

I'm experiencing the same issue and have tried multiple different proton versions and launch options.
