SafeGIT Documentation Migration Guide

Date: January 23, 2025
Purpose: Consolidation of 20+ SafeGIT documentation files into 3 comprehensive documents

📚 New Consolidated Documentation

1. SAFEGIT_COMPREHENSIVE.md

The main user-facing documentation containing:

  • Complete feature overview
  • Installation instructions
  • Usage examples (interactive and non-interactive)
  • CI/CD integration guides
  • AI agent integration
  • Best practices
  • Troubleshooting

2. SAFEGIT_TECHNICAL_REFERENCE.md

The developer/maintainer reference containing:

  • Architecture diagrams
  • Implementation details
  • Pattern matching engine
  • Handler implementations
  • Performance characteristics
  • Testing framework
  • Configuration system

3. SAFEGIT_README.md (Existing)

Quick-start guide and overview - already up-to-date with v2.0 features

🔄 Migration Steps

Step 1: Create Archive Directory

Step 2: Move Historical Documents

mv SAFEGIT_WRAPPER_PROPOSAL.md archive/safegit-historical/
mv SAFEGIT_ENHANCED_PROPOSAL.md archive/safegit-historical/
mv SAFEGIT_CONTEXT_FLAGS_PROPOSAL.md archive/safegit-historical/
mv SAFEGIT_NONINTERACTIVE_ENHANCEMENT.md archive/safegit-historical/

Step 3: Update References

Update any references to the old documentation files in:

  • CLAUDE.md
  • TOOLS_DOCUMENTATION_2025.md
  • Python scripts that might reference documentation

Step 4: Create Index File

Create an index in the archive directory for historical reference:
