I haven't been able to figure out under what license this repository is open-sourced, or if it's open source at all. Adding a LICENSE file would clear up some confusion.

Good point, I wonder how we missed that. I guess we are fine with any permessive license for the core logic, for example vinca has a MIT license: https://github.com/RoboStack/vinca/blob/master/LICENSE . @Tobias-Fischer @wolfv are you ok in adding a MIT license in all repos?

One thing that we probably need to mention somewhere is that patches extracted from repos are not licensed under our license, but under whatever license the original repo from which the patches are extracted are. I am not sure how Linux distros typically handle this.
