What are the methods used for the graphical displays of model performance, such as calibration plots (with smooth calibration curves) in the PLP package?

I used the PLP to create my discrimination and calibration plots and TRIPOD+AI asks to report the methods used for graphical displays of model performance, such as calibration plots (with smooth calibration curves).

Therefore, I wondered what the methods behind this were or where I can find this information.

The smooth calibration plot is from the publication of Calster et al. "A calibration heirarchy for risk models was defined: from utopia to empirical data" (2016)

The non-smooth calibration plot simply partitions the patients into 10 risk groups and then plots the mean predicted risk within each of the ten groups against the mean observed risk.
