no, its more like a QoL feature

when you add a non steam game to your library in most cases steam will handle controller input, for example if I launch this game and it doesn’t support a ps4 controller, if I use steam it has some sort of like compatibility layer which sort of translates the controller’s input into something like an xbox controller.
