Reading kml files fails

I tried to test fmesh and followed all steps from the Readme. However, the from_kml function is not able to read the kml files, both the ones I created with google earth as well as the ones provided with the respository like Baffin_Bay.kml. The files are opened, but features is not callable function but an empty list and I receive the following error message:

I installed a fresh condo environment for fmesh and fastkml version 1.1.0 was installed. Do you have an idea what could cause this error, potentially a version mismatch of the packages?

Hi Nil, It's difficult to say why "from_kml" doesn't want to read your kml file. It might be a version issue of course. However, the idea behind that function is just to extract the latitudes and longitudes of the two Google Earth polygons and pack them into the "internal" and "external" lists that contain lists of lats and lons. My recommendation is: Try to find out what structure of the "k" object (below) is and to find where the coordinates are in that object. Once you find it, it will be easy to modify the code for getting the sought coordinates. doc = kml_file.read().encode("utf-8") k = kml.KML() k.from_string(doc) The best, Sergei

Hi both,
I got the same error using the conda env created from requirements.yml. It could be fixed by downgrading fastkml<=0.12.
