When creating a block with the following script :
the block doesn't respond by printing anything in crafttweaker.log.
To test it, I placed and destroyed a leaf block, then a stone block next to the test block. According to the Minecraft Wiki both of these should trigger a Block Update. You can see in crafttweaker.log that this hasn't happened.
